Even stones that are put in one's path can have a pretty shape and inspire something new: We, Claudia and Malte Schindler, have been treading a common path as a couple with noën since 2006, also professionally, which has not always been an easy one. But the deep conviction and the basic trust that we can make a difference with our jewelry made of fair trade gold, that we can not only make things beautiful but also make the world a little bit better, have carried us through many a valley. Literally as well as figuratively. Because in order to get to the source of responsibly mined precious metal we had to move far away from our own comfort zone in every respect. But pioneers, and that's exactly what we are in the jewelry industry, sometimes have to take paths that have never been taken before.

Together, we have cleared many a hurdle and tirelessly searched for new ways to open up new perspectives with our jewelry, not only for lovers of beautiful things, but also for the people in the gold mines. The result is extraordinary, precious jewelry, certified with the Fairtrade seal since 2015, which is in harmony with human needs and those of the planet.

In our work, in which we have found the most beautiful and meaningful profession, we are guided by three core values. They are bundled in our brand name: noën, which is derived from the Japanese first name Noemi, which translates as "purity", "clarity" and "beauty". It is precisely these attributes that define everything we do. It starts with the prospectors who extract our used gold responsibly and who worked and live under fair conditions.

It extends to a transparent and unbroken supply chain, and it ends with our clear, purist design language, inspired by numerous trips to Scandinavia together, which outlasts fashions and whims. As the granddaughter of a Pforzheim jewelry entrepreneur, Claudia knows from the experience of three generations: Good design is also longevity. A piece of jewelry that is loved, worn and perhaps even passed on one day over many decades is always more sustainable than something that quickly loses its appeal and no longer finds a use.

For us, a piece of jewelry only becomes particularly valuable when it has been lovingly designed, perfectly crafted and manufactured in a responsible manner with people and resources. With our family background and our experience and expertise from three generations, we produce jewelry in our manufactory near Pforzheim in elaborate handwork. On old wooden workbenches, which are still family-owned and tell decades-old manufacturing stories, we work with heart and soul, dedication and with a lot of sensitivity. But we also use computer-aided design, innovative working techniques and the latest technologies. They ensure our perfect design and maximum quality, which at the same time have a minimal impact on the environment.

We can only guarantee this by overseeing all the processes that a piece of jewelry goes through ourselves and bringing them together under one roof. From the initial idea to the finished noën jewelry piece, everything takes place in the workshops of our manufactory. It is the source of our creativity, the center of our craftsmanship and the home of traditional goldsmithing. At the same time, there is always plenty of room for human interaction, for exchange and for a living community. This is how the best ideas are born in peace and quiet, always combining the highest standards of high quality and ethics.
